DEL-CR72-5.94 – CHESHIRE ROAD AND 3 B’S & K ROAD ROUNDABOUT

Korda prepared a feasibility study and developed the final design for the locally funded intersection improvement. Safety and capacity analyses were performed for several intersection alternatives with the preferred alternative being a single lane modern roundabout. Several roundabout configurations in order to determine the most effective layout that minimized property and environmental impacts as well as provided the necessary geometric features to ensure the high speed traffic approaching the intersection will controlled before entering the roundabout. Street lighting was provided at the intersection and landscaping enhancements were added to the center and approach islands. Storm drainage improvements utilized vegetated swales to comply with post construction storm water treatment requirements. Traffic was maintained with only a brief total closure to construct the final phase of the project.
