OHIO HISTORICAL CENTER
This 257,000 SF structure makes extensive use of prestressed concrete, both cast-in-place and precast. A below-grade floor features 170,000 SF of museum space. Above this area is an open plaza which includes museum displays, walks, large planted areas, and access drives for equipment. The most outstanding engineering feat is the library and archives section of the facility, a 200’ x 200’ box, supported on four points and cantilevering 37’ – 9” in every direction. The building houses over 500,000 C.F. of paper.
