OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY 18TH AVENUE EXTENSION

The Ohio State One Frame work plan and the Academic Core North District plan call for reconnections of certain “Ladder Streets” within campus. To fulfill this goal, Korda designed the 18th Avenue Extension which connects College Road to High Street. The Complete Street approach includes new and rehabilitated pavement; granite curbs; an improved “verge” containing engineered planting and structural soil to promote tree growth and stormwater quality improvements; and street lighting. Utilities include a new 11’ x 7’ concrete tunnel to house the primary 36″ chilled water distribution lines from the adjacent East Regional Chilled Water Plant; steam; electrical ductbank; water line; and sanitary sewers.

  • Increased pedestrian and bicycle safety and mobility
  • Provides an important link from College Road to High Street
  • Serves as a primary pedestrian corridor from campus to High Street businesses
  • Improved traffic signals
