SOUTHERN LOUISIANA VETERANS HEALTH CARE CENTER
The Southern Louisiana Veterans Health Care Service Replacement Medical Center is a replacement hospital for the VA Medical Center damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The new replacement medical center includes 140 acute care beds, 60 nursing home beds, D & T, outpatient clinics, support services, and central utility plant. The facility is being designed to resist hurricanes, earthquakes, blast loads, and progressive collapse. The campus is also being designed to remain operational and self sustaining for a period of 7 days should public utilities and services be interrupted due to a disaster. This project is registered for LEED certification.
