THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY MARTHA GRACE REESE AMPITHEATER
The Martha Grace Reese Ampitheater on the Newark Ohio Campus of The Ohio State University at Newark and the Central Ohio Technical College was designed and built during 1999 and serves as a centerpiece to the combined campus. The fabric structure Ampitheater was dedicated in the memory of Mrs. Martha Grace Reese, mother of one of the school’s major benefactors, Mr. J. Gilbert Reese. Mr. Reese and his wife Lou Reese have been long-time supporters of the University with other structures on the campus dedicated in their namesake. The Amphitheater is designed to host a variety of outdoor activities on the campus. Centrally located along side a peaceful pond in the middle of the campus and equidistant between Founder’s Hall and Adena Hall, the Amphitheater is an eye catching and distinctive landmark of the facility. With activities ranging from a series of outdoor concerts to gala celebrations, the Amphitheater is a year-round use structure. At night, light radiating through the fabric structure’s translucent surface provides an attractive and unique look to the structure and guides people to its events.
