Dodge Marion Franklin and Windsor Pools
This project was developed to provide a new replacement aquatic facility at Dodge Park , and replace the bath houses and concrete pool decks at 2 existing aquatic facilities (Marion Franklin and Windsor) to better serve the three Columbus communities. Korda provided civil engineering services for the detailed design of the Aquatic Centers, its associated parking surfaces, entrance and access roads, pedestrian paths, and storm water detention facilities. The Dodge Pool is composed of a new activity pool with a wet playground; spray ground; kiddie pool; diving well; bath house with restrooms, locker room/showers, family changing rooms, multipurpose room; staff locker rooms and office space; concession stand; mechanical and filter rooms; shade structures; pavilions; and associated site work. The Marion Franklin and Windsor Pools projects provided new bath houses with restrooms, locker room/showers, family changing rooms, multipurpose room, staff locker rooms and office space to enhance the features of the existing pool. The concrete pool decks were also replaced to enhance the swimming environment. Strict coordination with the geotechnical engineer was required and various soil stability measures were implemented for the design of the pools, building and utility infrastructure. Extended dry detention basins were provided at each Facility to meet City of Columbus storm water management requirements. Korda also coordinated with the City Engineer’s office and maintenance staff to ensure compliance with City design standards as well as consideration for future maintenance of utilities.
