Extended Stay Hotel at John Glenn International Airport

John Glenn International Airport  expanded their overnight stay capacity adjacent to the airport with this new 130 room 4-story hotel. The approximately 5 acre site was the previous U.S. Postal Service facility, which required demolition prior to beginning construction. From the start, Korda committed to an accelerated site permitting and construction schedule that required submitting initial permit drawings with weeks of project kickoffs. By developing a flexible design and being conservative with utility sizing, Korda was able to produce a complete early site construction package while the remainder of the project was still in Schematic Design. In the end, Korda provided a multi-phase CC plan approval process for storm water management with an underground system in compliance with FAA wildlife attraction requirements. They provided a public sanitary main extension, water service plans, and two final site compliance plans, all while providing a smooth permitting process with the City of Columbus. This project required coordination with multiple adjacent construction projects and the CRAA’s terminal expansion plan.
