First Community Church – North Campus Sanctuary Commissioning Services
The commissioning of the First Community Church was critical to the success of the First Community Church because of the $2.5 million organ that was built in place after completion of the building. The HVAC systems, which included underfloor air distribution, in organ humidification system and multiple destratification fans located near the roof, that was as high as 62 feet above the floor. For proper operation of the organ, the temperature needs to be help similar from the floor to the ceiling, otherwise it will be impossible to keep the organ in tune. The destratification fans had to be set to keep the air moving for proper mixing, as well as be quiet enough as to not be noticed. The humidification and dehumidification systems are critical to the long term life of the organ and surrounding woodwork.Through close work with the mechanical contractor and control system contractor, our commissioning team was able to guide this critical HVAC system to a competently operating system and a successful project for the church. Korda’s scope of commissioning services included construction observation, functional performance testing, and verification of compliance with the construction documents.
