GAL – 160-9.49

In response to a high rate of severe angle crashes, this intersection safety improvement will construct a single-lane modern roundabout at the intersection of SR160 and SR554 in the Village of Porter in Gallia County. Korda performed the survey, design, led virtual and pre-recorded public meetings, coordinated utility relocations, and managed the geotechnical, environmental, and property acquisition tasks that were performed via subconsultant under our contract.

The work consists of 1100 L.F. of improvements along SR160 and 900 L.F. along SR554. To reduce impacts to the traveling public, the roundabout is aligned east of the existing intersection to allow SR160 to carry traffic as long as possible. In addition, the schedule was expedited to construct the project during the summer to reduce impacts to the middle school and high school just south of the project.  Korda provided surveying for the project which included an extensive topographic survey with utilities, property lines, existing right of way and centerline recovery.  Right of Way Plans were also prepared by Korda’s staff and includes acquisition of 16 permanent and temporary takes.

  • This project was awarded, design and constructed during COVID-19
  • 2000 L.F. total improvements
  • Expedited Schedule
