Mercy Hospital, Anderson Addition

Approximately 20 years after we designed the original hospital, Mercy Health Partners commissioned Korda to design an addition to the hospital. This 7–story addition houses patient beds for med/surg, ICU, rehab, and OB patients. The addition also houses catheterization and diagnostic labs. Korda designed the structural systems to interconnect with the structure of the existing facility. We also designed the MEP infrastructure to accommodate the bed tower. This infrastructure upgrade included emergency generators, boilers, and air–handling units. The remote location of the existing chillers relative to the tower addition required our engineers to design a distributed chilled water system similar to systems we have designed at some of our other healthcare projects.
