MOT-70-17.83
Korda designed the rehabilitation of the existing curved 4-span steel beam bridge carrying Bridgewater Road over Interstate 70. The existing superstructure was constructed non-composite with A7 steel beams, which is not able to accommodate the currently required design loading. The existing superstructure will be replaced with new doglegged painted steel beams a new composite concrete deck slab and new approach slabs. The abutment backwalls and expansion joint will be replaced as well as the addition of new elastomeric bearings on the existing substructures. Bridgewater Road will be closed during construction, while IR70 traffic will be maintained throughout construction. This project included minimal approach work with geogrid slope stabilization to accommodate the replacement of the guardrail with MGS guardrail.
