Northam Park Improvements

In 2020, the City of Upper Arlington Parks & Recreation Department initiated a project for the schematic design of infrastructure improvements to the athletic fields and tennis court complex resulting in a multi-phased Vision Plan for the park. Given the well-established nature of Northam Park and existing uses, the intent of this project was not to redesign or reprogram the park but to study and develop a long-term plan for enhancements to those existing athletic and civic facilities already contained within the park that were in need of renovation or replacement. Broken into three phases, Korda has provided professional engineering services for all three phases for this park improvement project.

Phase I improvements included the installation of a new storm sewer to address current ponding issues and facilitate future drainage improvements. Phase 2 replaced the existing park service building as well as associated site work including an entry plaza in front of the building, central tennis plaza and tennis court improvements. And the current Phase 3 focuses on the renovation of the east athletic fields. The renovations include re-grading of existing athletic fields, removing existing baseball diamonds and installing new 70’ and 60’ baseball diamonds with adjustable pegs in a new location. The new baseball diamonds include clay infield, chain link backstop and dugouts. We also installed an  irrigation system for athletic fields, including potential supply well. The athletic fields will be sodded.
