OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital Expansion
In an effort to continue meeting the growing healthcare needs of Fairfield County, OhioHealth invesed $140 million into the expansion of its Pickerington Hospital. Now complete, the project added a strategic six-story, 220,000 square foot hospital building, attached to the north side of the existing facility. Included in this new state-of-the-art facility is an ambulatory oncology department on the first floor that includes 12 infusion bays, 16 exam rooms, and future radiation oncology. In addition, there are 60 inpatient beds that include a dedicated mother-baby birthing floor. The surgery department includes 6 operating rooms with ancillary support, including an on-site sterile processing department. The imaging expansion includes CT, cardiac catheterization, and X-Ray modalities.
For the existing building, renovations include the following: laboratory, administration, an additional MRI, and additional public components will be added to the campus. The existing loading dock and back of house services will be combined and expanded upon as they are integrated / relocated into the base of the new hospital.
During the design of this project great emphasis was placed on energy efficiency and making this new facility the most energy efficient OhioHealth Facility while ensuring that all systems were reliable and maintainable. This resulted in a highly efficient chilled water system and condensing heating and domestic water boilers. The equipment sizing was optimized for efficiency. Additionally, the surgery department HVAC system was designed to minimize reheat energy while maintaining the stringent operating room environmental conditions.
