Over Head Utility Removal – South High Street Phases 1 & 2
The S. High Street Utility Burial is a beautification project for the City of Dublin with the goal to remove the overhead utilities within the Historic District of Old Dublin from Bridge Street south to Short Street and from Franklin Street east to Blacksmith Lane. The project is two Phases divided by S. High Street and includes survey services emphasizing existing utilities including all lateral service lines and connections to buildings. After extensive communication and coordination with AEP and four separate telecommunication companies Korda developed construction documents for the design and installation of a shared use utility conduit system that incorporated underground facilities and new lateral connections for approximately 48 residential and 39 commercial buildings. This project involves extensive knowledge and utilization of facility and equipment sizes and requirements; spacing and clearance needs; and utility alignment limitations. Project scope includes coordination with multiple road improvement projects within and connecting to the utility burial locations; cost estimating; landscape screening above ground components; and restoration requirements after underground installation (including curb, ADA ramp replacement, pavement repair/replacement, drainage redesign, and site restoration).
Korda was responsible for preparing approximately 67 Legal Descriptions for facility easements required to relocate the new underground alignment and facility equipment and 16 temporary easements for construction. Additionally, Korda provided electric conversion assistance and construction staking.
