The Ohio State University – Multispecies Animal Learning Center

The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) retained a team, for which Korda provided professional mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering services, to design and construct the new $45 million Multispecies Animal Learning Center (MALC). The laboratory will be situated on the grounds of the Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory at The Ohio State University. When complete, the project will provide the space, technology, equipment, and amenities to facilitate human-animal interactions that demonstrate and promote current and future best teaching, learning and management practices.

The facility is planned to provide a variety of multi-functional teaching and outreach spaces, a 200+ seat arena, social collaboration and lounge areas for students, faculty, and staff. The project will also include a number of animal housing/holding areas for multiple species of agricultural animals, animal health care, nutrition, and reproduction areas as well as animal pastures with suitable shelter.
