Korda promotes 2 to Associates

Korda/Nemeth Engineering is pleased to announce the promotion of two new associates of the firm.  Robert (Rob) Jones, Jr, PE, LEEP and Bernardus (Bernie) Kooi PE, SE, LEED AP were named Associates earlier this year.

Rob is an electrical engineer with over 20 years of professional experience.  He received his BSEE from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has worked on projects in various market sectors including hospitality, commercial, medical and government projects. Rob specializes in technical and complex designs including medium and low voltage distribution systems, emergency/standby power systems, renewable energy design and implementation, and circuit analysis calculations. He has published multiple articles in CSE Magazine on subjects including Generators and Transfer Switches for Mission Critical Facilities (Jul 2013); Integrating Alternative Power and Existing Electrical Systems (Sept 2016); and, Selecting, Sizing Transformers in Non-Residential Buildings (Dec 2018). He has also been a featured speaker at numerous professional conferences and roundtables. Rob is a 2020 graduate of the Builder’s Exchange Rising Leaders Institute.

 

Bernie is a structural engineer with 13 years of professional experience working on various sports and recreation, healthcare, and office projects. He is responsible for structural design, cost estimate preparation, shop drawing review, and preparation of plans and specifications as well as structural analysis of existing facilities. Bernie received his degree in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University. Outside of his responsibilities at Korda, Bernie has been active in multiple professional organizations, including the Structural Engineers Association of Ohio, where he serves as a Professional advisor to The Ohio State University student chapter (since 2015) and as the Basic Education Chairperson for all Ohio student chapters (since 2018). He further served as a Board of Directors member in 2018-2019. For the past five years, Bernie has volunteered his time for STEM exhibitions at various locations including the Ohio State Fair, COSI, and local school STEM programs.
