This 88,000 SF educational building includes classrooms, offices, computer labs, science labs, and gathering space featuring multi-level lighting control, video conferencing, distance learning classrooms, and audio visual telecommunications. The first of seven new buildings to be built on the CSCC Delaware Campus. The facility also serves as the “mirror” site for the main campus IT department with appropriate cooling and fire protection in the designated area. The building also features environmentally friendly air conditioning refrigerant, high efficiency, low-flow water closets and urinals to conserve water, reflective roof to minimize cooling requirements, low-emitting materials to improve indoor air quality, daylight harvesting, higher efficiency lighting to reduce energy costs, and occupancy sensors. The chilled water plant for the building includes two water cooled centrifugal chillers selected to meet LEED energy efficiency goals. Space was provided for a future third chiller that will complete the central chilled water plant to serve additional buildings planned for the campus. The building also serves as the “mirror” site for the main campus IT department. The 3,000 SF data center includes a raised floor cooling delivery system and a clean agent gas fire suppression system. The building will have three emergency generators. Site development includes bio-swales, wetlands, native plantings, and retention ponds. The building has achieved LEED Gold certification.
